Planning hair or dental treatment in Turkiye? Before you pay a deposit, check the clinic and the agency. Under Turkiye's 2025 health tourism regulation, clinics and facilitators serving international patients need a Ministry of Health authorization certificate, and unauthorized parties may not offer these services. The CDC also suggests seeing your US clinician 4–6 weeks before travel and agreeing on follow-up care in advance. Medical questions go to your doctors; Turkish-law matters, such as contracts or claims, are handled by the Turkish attorneys at Sonmez Partners.

Check 1 · The clinic
Is it authorized for health tourism?
Under Turkiye's 2025 health tourism regulation, facilities that serve international patients need a Ministry of Health authorization certificate. The Ministry publishes lists of authorized hospitals, medical centers and private practices.
- 02
Check 2 · The facilitator
Agencies need a certificate too.
Facilitators that arrange treatment, transfers and stays for international patients also need an authorization certificate, and unauthorized parties may not offer health tourism services. The official portal, healthturkiye.gov.tr, lists authorized facilitators.
- 03
Check 3 · Insurance
Ask about complication insurance.
The regulation requires complication insurance for surgical and interventional procedures done in an operating room. The rule has been challenged in court, so ask the clinic in writing whether your procedure is covered and by which policy.
- 04
Check 4 · The price
Get an itemized quote and invoice.
Prices are set within the Ministry's tariff, and the invoice should list each service with its unit price. Keep every quote, message and receipt in writing.

Check 5 · Your doctor at home
Plan the follow-up before you fly.
- See your US clinician 4–6 weeks before travel
- Ask for your records in English
- Agree who handles follow-up and complications
- Ask how long to wait before flying home
- 06
Check 6 · If something goes wrong
Know where to turn.
The official HealthTurkiye support line runs 24/7: +90 850 288 38 38. Patients can complain and seek compensation, but legal routes in Turkiye work differently from the US.
